Sorry! It has been a while once again. Hoping I can get back to this on a regular basis!!

We are excited that there are only 3 1/2 more months of school left. 15 more Mondays! :) This has been a rough year for us all! I'm loving teaching, but not so fond of everything that goes along with it!! Nathan and Mari Morgan are doing very well in school. Nathan has made honor roll both 9 weeks, and Mari Morgan has made Principal's List. We are so proud of them. But, Nathan has had some organizational issues that sometimes keep him from doing his best. Mari Morgan has had some sleep issues, making it hard for her to wake up at 6:00 each morning. But, overall, we have been blessed and trust God to get us through!

Nathan has moved on to basketball now. Brian is coaching. It has been a very challenging season. We have not won a game. Today, however; we came very close. Nathan scored 4 of the 10 points, but we got beat at the buzzer, 12-10. Very disappointing!! Nathan is having a blast, and has really improved!

Mari Morgan has become the girliest of girls. She wears my high heel shoes all over the house, and wears stick on nails, and will not let me fix her hair anymore. She is all about independence!! :)

She is doing very well in gymnastics, and flips all over the house. She is on a silver team right now, but her coach says in a few months she will be ready to move to gold. We are proud of her and I personally, LOVE gymnastics!!

A New Year

It is now 2012! This year has seemed to fly by. I have contemplated setting new year's resolutions. I seem to never stick to them; however I do feel that it is important to evaluate 2011, and to make necessary changes to have a fresh start and try to do better in this new year. There is just something about a fresh start on January 1. :) I have asked the Lord to show me areas where I need improvement.....which can be every area, although He did show me certain ones for my focus. We will make decisions in this coming year both big and small, and we ask for His guidance in them all. Also, as many of you know, I have a stronghold in my life that is constantly with me. Satan uses my health to discourage me and tear me away from doing my responsibilities to the best of my ability. This new year I am resolved to conquer these fears with God's power, not mine. Some verses I have reflected on this morning:

"You are a hiding place for me;

you preserve me from trouble;

you surround me with shouts of deliverance"

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you with my eye upon you."

Psalm 32: 7-8

Christmas 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. It was a joy to celebrate our Lord's birth, and see family and friends that we don't see very often. We are very blessed!

This was taken at a Christmas service at Riverbend on Friday night. This really helped us focus on the birth of Christ.

One of the highlights of our Christmas break was traveling to North Carolina. We have many friends there, and Brian and Nathan had tickets to two North Carolina basketball games. Brian LOVES the NC Tarheels. It was great to see Andy and Elisa for a brief time, and spend time with Ryan and Kimberly and their kids. On our way to NC, we stopped in Johnson City, TN, to see David and Christine Fields. It was awesome to see them and we miss them terribly. It was a great trip, but a LONG drive.

God is in Control

Do I really believe that? I have to remind myself of that here a lot lately. Brian and I are facing issues and decisions that are heavy on our heart right now. I am beginning to memorize the book of James with a few ladies from church. What a great time to memorize this book. Here is what I have memorized so far.

Greetings

Consider it pure joy my child when you encounter trials of various kinds. Knowing that the testing of your faith develops steadfastness, and let steadfastness have its full effect so that you can be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him as God who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given him.

I so need this right now. Even though I can't see it right now, God promises that He is working for good in this situation/s. He promises that He has His hand on my life. God knew my days before one of them came to be.

Now, if I can just live that out in my life....I'm trying!!

Our Saturdays were spent at ballgames. MM loved to go and play with friends who also had brothers playing.

The Brewer's hosted a Fall Family Night for the kids from church. They had face painting, pumpkin painting, and a hayride. The kids had a blast. Thank you to the Brewer's for the fun time!

Mississippi State Football.... If you remember, Brian gave me tickets to three home MSU football games. This was the Homecoming game. We hung out at my Aunt's tent for a while, and then watched the Bulldog's kick some tail!! I love MSU!!!!!!

Where Did October Go?

This month has gone by so fast!! It feels like we just started school, and now it is about to be the Holiday season! My update on me running couch to 5k is no more. Yes, I gave up..I stopped. I continued exercising some, then gradually fell off that boat. I am just not motivated. I hope to start back soon. School is going okay. I still enjoy teaching, but everything else that goes along with it steals the joy. My class has really improved in their behavior, which is a big plus. I have had to move desks around at least 2 times a week since we have been in school to get them where I want them behaviorally. It's working! You do what you have to do. Also, I have become a drill Sargent, which is so not my nature. We will survive! Thankful for what this group is teaching me.

My time with the Lord these past couple of weeks has been great!! God has really been showing me in His Word ways to be His hands and feet in my home and in the world. Satan is the father of lies. Satan has really been after my family . He seeks to corrupt families, churches, creativity, joy,--all goodness and truth. Anything God says is good, the enemy goes after. This verse has really stuck with me, ...Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature;for he is the father of lies." John 8:44b

I love my time in the morning before everyone gets going. Just me,my cup of cofee, my Bible, and Jesus!! :)

God's Beautiful World

Over Fall Break, the kids went back to North Carolina with Brian's parents. So, we decided to take a trip of our own. It was soooooooo relaxing-- 2 whole days with no schedules,no phone calls, no kids...Yes, it's true...We all need a break!! We went to Mountain View, Arkansas. Neither of us had ever been there before, we just wanted to see the mountains with all of the leaves changing. We were in awe of God's beauty! Thank you, Brian for this much needed trip....it was a pleasure to enjoy it with the love of my life!!

What Are My Kids Up To?

I would like to share about my 2 little blessings. They are sunshines in my life. Nathan....A teacher once told me," If every child could be like Nathan, the world would be a much better place". She says he is ALWAYS happy. I agree with her. Nathan LOVES life! His smile is contagious! Did I mention...smart? We worked so hard to pull his grade up this 9 weeks, and he did it. A/B honor roll! So proud of him.

Mari-Morgan.......She has become such a little lady with one of the kindest, loving hearts I've ever known. She loves Jesus, and she wants everyone to know that. She too is very smart, and so much fun!!

God has truly blessed me beyond measure.

Nathan has another love besides football and lizards. I haven't told you much about this, because we really didn't know if he was going to take this seriously. He loves "rock out" music and wants to play in a band one day. He is learning to play the electric guitar.... now, this is not one of my favorite instruments, but if it makes him want to be involved in music, I am all for it! Nathan is very gifted musically. He could sing a song at 2 years of age without missing a note or a beat. We believe God has gifted him in this area, so we told him he could play football only if he pursued something musically. He chose to take electric guitar lessons and has not looked back. He is still very much a beginner, and does not want to practice, but he is doing a good job. Keep it up, son!

We told Mari Morgan that she had to choose between gymnastics and soccer. Not sure where the soccer came from....anyway. She chose to do gymnastics. She is in a class with 2 older girls that are a little more advanced than she is. Her coach suggested this for her. I was afraid that she would get discouraged, but she is doing fine. Her coach, Lauren, is very supportive, and she and MM likes her alot.

Her favorite thing is bars. She is getting to try harder things, and she loves it. She talked about this move all night long. She was so proud of herself. Watch and learn...Ha!

Nathan absolutely LOVES football. I don't understand why anyone would enjoy carrying around pads that weigh more than you and getting hit. Hard!!! Oh well, I guess it's a man thing. I really feel much more prepared this year. Most of my room is finished. I just have to some paperwork and last minute details.

My mom and I spent this past weekend in Meredian, MS. My niece was in the Most Outstanding Young Woman Pageant. This pageant is different than most, focusing more on academics and physical fitness. Our Holly placed 3rd alternate out of 40 young ladies. We are so proud of her. We love you, Holly, and are so happy for you. You are an outstanding young woman to us all.

My first Couch to 5K run/walk with Sofee

I would like to say that this was a good experience, but it was NOT! First, I obviously don't walk or run near as fast as Jennifer or Cal. My ipod earplugs kept falling out and she wanted to stop at every little thing while walking. This caused problems staying up with the program. When I ran, she was better. Needless to say, my rhythm was extremely off! Then, while were nearing the end of my session, I accidentally let go of her leash, and she darted off. I had to chase her down the street! Trust me, I'm sure the neighbors got a huge laugh. I guess we both got our exercise, but it was not pretty. Much thought will go in to the decision to do this again with her. Just a reminder: I have never been a runner, especially with a dog. So don't make fun........:)

Sofee's Homecoming

Our Cocker Spaniel puppy has been in Indiana training to be an inside dog for 2 months. Brian's sister, Jennifer, and her husband, Cal took on this endeavor. They have 3 other Cockers, and are very experienced in training them. This was the big day for her return! Brian drove to Bolling Green,KY (msp) to meet them with her. The truck was filled with all of her belongings; bag of toys, food, treats, dog wipes, meds, a day crate, and a night crate. We are glad to have her home, but not sure we will take care of her as well as they did. I can tell that they have worked hard with her, and for that we are very grateful. She is doing very well, and has had no accidents. Of course, we haven't even had her 24 hours yet!! :) We have her on a schedule and hope that she can continue to stay inside. When she starts having lots of accidents, she will be outside again. I can't handle that. I know that it will take patience to get her used to her new schedule, so I won't throw her out right away. :) Jen and Cal, we are so thankful for your help and you have made you niece and nephew very happy. Thanks again!

Gluten-free update

During the summer is a very hard time to start a new diet like this. I have done the best I can do, considering vacations and trips to grandparents' houses. I have cooked gluten-free pizza and gluten free cookies, both that neither kids were crazy about. They now have more gluten free cereal, which is a help. My friend, Laura , is taking me to a whole foods store in Southaven which is supposed to be expanding and to Kroger to help me. She is also trying to do a gluten free diet. It will be a great ministry to me, especially since I can't drive. Hopefully, this will take a load off of Brian too. Thank you, Laura! During school, I'm planning for this to be much easier.

I have decided that it would be best for my body to run week 1 for two weeks. So I have spent 4days so far on week one. Today I will be running day 5 of week 1. I wish I could say that it is getting easier, but I am really struggling! This is going to be really hard to stick to, but I am going to try! Cooler days would really be good right now!!

Well, I did it! I dreaded it all day and made sure I got plenty of water into my system before I walked/ran. Brian was kind enough to do it with me, and he said he was proud of me. It seemed much harder tonight than the first time. It was extremely humid. So, on Monday I might try running in the morning, even though I am NOT a morning person. :( It is supposed to be 100 degrees. Until then...

The Start of a New Beginning...I Think

Ok, well, I previously posted one of my goals for the summer was to start exercising so that I can run the 5K with my family in December. We had a sleepover with the Lemond's last night, and she is training for a half marathon. She is doing the program, Couch to 5K, and has been trying to get me to do it with her group. I refused! She is on week 6, but offered to run day 1 with me today. I agreed to try it after MUCH persuasion. Ha! I had no clothes to run in, so I borrowed a sports bra, shorts, and tennis shoes from her. Eight and a half is my shoes size, and all she had for me to wear was a 7 1/2--needless to say, my toes cramped the whole way. I did it!!! I was exhausted, hurting, nauseated, and dizzy, but I did it!! Amanda has always pushed me to give a little more in many areas of my life, and has been a constant encouragement for me. Amanda, I am truly blessed by you!! So proud of myself, but not really looking forward to Saturday when I must do it again. I will try to keep you updated.

8 runs of 60 seconds, with 90 minute walks in between! Yikes! For some this a breeze, but something I felt was impossible for me. Keep in mind, I have never ran a day in my life! HUGE, HUGE, day!!

Continuing my study of the names of God

Yaweh-Yireh means "to see" translated as "provide". This chapter taught me lot about how provision and obedience and provision go hand in hand.

Key scripture: Abraham looked up and there in the thicket saw a ram caught by its horns . He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided. Genesis 22:13-14

I love this beautiful story, and I can't imagine what was going through his mind on that three day journey to Mt. Moriah.

* Praise God for the provision in your life

* Ask God to help you obey him without hesitation or compromise

*When we put something on the altar, sacrificing it to him, we acknowledge two things; that he is God and we are not.

*Without obedience we will never experience the provision God intends for us .

My Big Day

I had a wonderful birthday. I slept in this morning until about 9:00. When I woke up, the kids were ready to give me my gifts. I love to see how excited they get when I open their present. A friend of mine, Claire Humphries called me this morning to see if I wanted to go eat lunch with her. I do not get to see her very often. She is such an encourager, and also a pastor's wife. I really enjoy her company. We had a great time and got to catch up on life. So thankful that she called . My family and friends are the best! Until next year...

A New Adventure

Today, we are going to take a family trip to Whole Foods in Memphis. We are going to start a gluten-free diet today. We realize this will mean a higher grocery bill, but feel it is worth it. Nathan is very high-functioning and has some difficulty with focus and concentration. We feel this will benefit the whole family, though. I am also going to limit sugar intake and dyes in food. Did you know that food dyes like red 40, blue, and yellow are made from petroleum? How can this be good for your body? This will definitely be the hardest part, but it can be done. Hopefully this will mean a healthier lifestyle for the whole family, as well as better behavior. :) Wish me luck!!!

I woke up this morning in a moooood!! Feeling sorry for myself is a huge battle I face on a daily basis. I have been having some side effects to my new meds that I do not like! I was complaining to Brian before we got out of bed. He went to the donut shop for us, and I sat down to enjoy my donut and cup of coffee. Then, I opened up my QT book, Praying the names of God, which I have been sharing with you. This is what I read:

Even to your old age and gray hairs

I am he,I am he who will sustain you.

I have made you and I will carry you;

I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4

Do you not know?

Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth;

Whether you are young or old, take some time to thank God for the things in your body that ARE working well. Ask God to glorify himself by making you an example of a person who is tangibly strengthened by the everlasting God, who gives strength to the weary and power to the weak.

On June 19, The Fields' announced that they would be leaving Riverbend to help launch Christlife Church in Johnson City, TN. Of course, we are saddened by this news, but know that God will use them mightily there as he has here. To David, I have been blessed by your genuine and awesome worship. You are so talented! You have been such a wonderful supporter of Brian and Riverbend's vision. Thank you! To Christine, I cannot begin to tell you how much I will miss our conversations. You are such an encourager, and I have grown to appreciate you as a partner in the ministry, but more than that, a very dear friend. Thank you! To Anna, it has been a joy to see you grow in the Lord at Riverbend. You have set a wonderful example for Mari Morgan ,and she adores you. Most of all, I will miss your sweet smile and your hugs! To little David, I have seen you grow into such a little gentleman. I appreciate your loyal friendship to Nathan. He really likes hanging out with you. To the whole clan, we dedicate this post to you. May you continue to show others the love of Christ! Please know we will miss you greatly, but know it's all about the kingdom! We love you! Since the beginning of the summer I have been cleaning out and reorganizing closets. I am not very good at this, but a friend gave me some pointers to help me out. Our bedroom closet was my biggest undertaking!! I did not take pictures before I cleaned it out because it was very embarrassing. Brian and I share one tiny closet, which is so not cool. I took EVERYTHING out of the closet. I then sorted all clothes, shoes, and other JUNK into "want" and "throw out". I feel much better now that it is done, and you can even see the floor! :)

I have shared with you that I am doing a daily reading by Ann Spangler called Praying the Names of God. Today, I just completed the study of El Shadday--God Almighty. When you pray to Him in this name we invoke the name of the one to whom nothing is impossible. Genesis 17:1-2 are the key verses. Below are some statements that spoke to me:

* El Shadday is also translated "God the Mountain One"--like the mountains themselves God is seen strong and unchanging!

*Nothing can keep our God from carrying out His plans and pouring out his blessings on our lives!

Proverbs 18:10--"The name of the Lord is a strong tower:

Health Update

I am doing pretty well on my seizure medication-making me kinda tired, but I'm always tired! On top of all of this, I had my first kidney stone Tuesday night and Wednesday. I was chaperoning our church kid's camp, and woke up Tuesday night with bad lower back pain on my left side. Wednesday morning I was in a lot of pain, so we went to the doctor. He did a CT scan which showed the 4mm stone almost dropping into my bladder. It is not hurting now, but I don't think I have passed it. If it is in your bladder, there is no pain. My right side and back are hurting today. I pray it is not the start of another stone. The CT scan showed that I have numerous stones in my left kidney, and a few in my right kidney. It will be less cokes and coffee, and more water with lemons from now on for me. :)

We are so thankful for special friends who love us enough to give us this trip to Florida,let us use their car and stay in their condo. Thank you. We are so grateful! I believe this was the most relaxing trip that I have ever been on. I don't know if it is because I didn't have to change diapers and chase babies around, or if it was because I was so worn out from teaching! For whatever the reason, it was so nice not to have a schedule and get lots of rest. We were able to catch up from the business of life and admire God's creation. We are so blessed!

Day 1

Day 2 and 3

This was our first day at Siesta Keys beach. At the present time, this beach is ranked the #1 beach in the world. It was beautiful. It was a pretty turquoise color, and the sand was unbelievable. It was like baby powder, hardly gritty at all. The most wonderful thing about this beach is that it did not break Nathan out. For some reason, every beach we go to makes Nathan's legs break out and burn so much that he cannot swim in the water. It is really sad because he loves it so much. Siesta Keys; however, did not bother him. He said, "Mom, I agree with those people. This is the best beach in the world." It was a joy to see him enjoying himself!

We swam at the pool, and went to the neatest putt-putt golf place. Not only did they have fun golf, but we got to feed baby alligators while we were there. It was tons of fun!

After all the stress of waiting, they finally diagnosed me with epilepsy and narcolepsy. I started my new medication last night, because I wanted to get vacation out of the way. The doctors say that I am having seizures while I am sleeping. By taking this medicine, hopefully my seizures will be controlled, and I can get quality sleep at night. Of course, the medicine does have side effects. I am crying out to God as El Roi to hear my deepest desire that this medicine works and I can enjoy feeling better during the day!! Please join me in prayer and praise that he will take care of this situation!!

A Time of Reflection

I have a few goals this summer. I hope to clean out and organize closets. Things get pretty ignored when you are a working mom. I also plan on training for the 5K that the whole family plans to run in December. My goal this summer is to build up to walking 3 miles at one time without falling out! To most people this is a drop in the bucket, but for me it is huge!! Lastly, but most importantly, I want to grow in His Word, training myself in spiritual discipline.

We just got back from a 10 day trip to Florida. I grew a lot on this trip. I started a daily guided reading -- "Praying the Names of God", by Ann Spangler. It has been so good, and exactly what I need at this stage in my life! I have studied Elohim--GOD, Mighty Creator, and El Roi--the God who sees me.

We are the reflection of God's glory and we are made to reflect His character to the world! So often we miss God's beauty because we are so preoccupied by its flaws. I feel that the word preoccupied describes how I have been lately. You miss out on so much when you are in this state. Praise God that His eye is on the sparrow! When you pray to El Roi, you pray to one who knows everything about you. He hears your cries for help, and offers timely help. Praise Him!

I am also reading the book, Crazy Love, by Francis Chan. Unbelievable display of God's Love and overwhelmingly convicting! I have discovered that I am missing it!

Memorial Day Weekend

Friday evening we headed to my mom's house to spend the night. On Saturday, we went to a family get together at Mr. Jack's and Mrs. Debbie Treloar's house. They are good friends with my family and offer for us to use their house on Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Their house is gorgeous, and most importantly has a beautiful salt water swimming pool. This keeps the kids entertained for hours!! It was great fun. Thank you Treloars'!!

This was our first year for all of us to be in Hernando schools. We had an awesome year! Nathan and Mari Morgan missed Desoto Central, but seemed to make the adjustment well. Nathan complained the least, and Mari Morgan's biggest complaint was waking up an hour earlier. I must admit, we had a hard time waking her and getting her going...but, we did it! She was cranky for about 30-45 minutes, and then she was fine. It was great timing. Fourth grade was not so much of a challenge for Nathan, and I was able to be there for MM more her Kindergarten year. First grade taught her a lesson about play and work, and she was aware that mom couldn't come to her rescue when things got too hard. She grew a lot this year. I am proud of her for that. She was a trooper!! Here are a few end of the year memories.

I still have mixed emotions about this school year ending, but feel confident my students are prepared for fourth grade. I have become so attached to them. When you spend 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, 9 months out of the year with one group, you do become attached. If you don't, then you might want to check your calling! I did not give them the poem. I decided to do picture collages for each of them. This took quite a while, but one day, I know they will enjoy them. I promise not to blog any more about my class.....but they were the best!! :)

Nathan's Baptism

Nathan has been talking about becoming a Christian for a long time. Last summer,at kid's camp, he asked the camp pastor lots of questions. He told us that Nathan knew the correct answers, but he didn't feel he was quite ready. Through the school year, we touched on the basics of the faith with our children in our devotions at night. Nathan told us about 2 months ago that he had asked Jesus to come into his life. We believed him, but wanted to be certain. Brian had to travel to Hot Springs, AR and asked Nathan if he wanted to ride with him. Of course, he said yes, because he would get to miss school!! :) Brian was able to talk to him about his salvation experience, and told me when they returned home that he felt Nathan was saved. We have seen a difference in his behavior, remembering that he is a new Christian. We are so proud of him, knowing this was the biggest decision he will ever make. We pray that we will be the examples he needs on this new journey of his life. So, May 22, 2011, Nate was baptized at Riverbend! Praise the Lord! We love you, Nathan!

I have mixed emotions about this school year ending. I am so very blessed to have been given the best class in Desoto County. Not only are they brilliant, but the kindest, coolest 8 year olds ever. When God gave me this job, I never knew what a blessing they would be. Yes, it has been difficult juggling everything, but I know it is my calling. Nathan has done remarkably well at Oak Grove--all A's! Mari Morgan struggled at first, but I believe she has grown up through the process. She too is an all A student! So proud of my kiddos, and so blessed to be an employee of Desoto County Schools! Go Tigers!

Yes, I have already cried in the classroom at the thought of them leaving me. I can't imagine what the last day of school will be like for me. I will need lots of tissues!! :( I plan to attach this poem to their end-of-the-year gift from me. It says exactly what I want them to know. I plan to give them each a small potted flower.

Mother's Day and a miserable hubby

Brian has been in India for two weeks, and finally came home Friday night. We missed him so much, and are so glad he is back home safe and sound. He has been down in his back, so the kids and I got out a little bit to allow him to rest. The kids took me on a hike. Sorry, forgot my camera. We then came inside, and MM wanted to make cookies for me for Mother's Day. Brian brought me many things from India for Mother's Day. He is so thoughtful, and I love being his wife. I am so thankful for God's blessings today. I pray that he will continue to guide me to be the best "mom" I can be, prayerfully remembering that they are really His!

MM finally loses a tooth!

Mari Morgan is now a 2nd semester first grader, and has finally lost her first tooth. She was so sad that all of her friends had already lost one, some even two or three. We went to the dentist the other day and he told her that one looked like it was about to fall out. She twisted and turned it until it was just hanging. I tried to pull it for her, but she wouldn't have it. She is a very independant little girl. I was putting away laundry upstairs, and I heard---"Mom. I did it!" She was so excited! There will soon be a second, because the one right next to it is lose also. :)

Nathan turned 10 years old! I can't believe it! He wanted to go bowling and eat pizza. So, after school on Friday, we headed to Stike Zone, and then back home to have some pizza and a cookie cake. It was a blast!

I have been praying for Nathan to have a close friend his age that he really bonds with. Well, I think he has found him. At the beginning of school, Joshua was new to the school, and joined their class on the third day. Mrs. Musselwhite asked Nathan to be his "buddy" for the day. Since that time, they have really become great friends. Brian and I got to meet him at his party, and we were so excited to see the connection they have made. He is such a sweet boy, and I can see why they are good friends.

We love you, Nathan, and look forward to spending many more years of celebrations!

One of our favorite things to do when it starts getting warmer is taking Zeke to the lake at Longview point to fetch the ball. He can really swim. The kids love it too, because they get to swing and ride their bikes. This was Sofie's first trip, and she was right behind Zeke every step. But, she didn't try to swim. Maybe next time! Looking forward to more weather like this!

I wake up exhausted, yet go about my day as usual. Get ready for school, jump in the truck with Brian(remember, I can't drive yet), teach until 2:30, do homework with the kids, stress about what's for dinner, hoping we have enough money to eat out, :) although I am aware that is is so unhealthy, try to get a little schoolwork done, go to kids' activities, a little more schoolwork, pick up some around the house, spend atleast 5 minutes with my kiddos, a little more schoolwork, try to spend time with Brian, go to bed, get up and do it all over again.

Sound familiar???? Your life too, maybe!

This morning I stayed home from school because I felt yucky. I have been reading my Bible and talking to God. I told Him.... I just need peace. More than being a mom that worries about what to eat, if my house will EVER be clean again, my husband in the ministry-being pressed by all that involves, more than worrying about what is really wrong with me, or if I will have a seizure today, or if I will have what it takes to finish out this year strong at school-so much pressure, if my kids know I love them for who they are, if my husband knows how I truly love his faithfulness, if the Lord will wash over Riverbend with blessing..... the list goes on and on...

Sound familiar?????

This is what I came across this morning; "The Lord bless you and keep you;the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you,; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace."

Peace,then, can only be defined by God,given by Him, and bestowed upon the heart as the crowning prize when every trace of ourself has surrendered to the Father's will.

A friend of mine, Mary Beth, had a painting party tonight. She is so very talented and wants to use her talents to glorify the Lord in every way she can. I really admire her and her walk with our Savior. She had a painting completely painted for us to go by, and also showed us step by step how to do each stroke on a clean canvas. We were supposed to follow her to paint the same picture. I did fair, but oh so far from a prize that's for sure. It was a lot of fun! I hope to do it again very soon! Thank you, Mary Beth for getting my creative juices flowing. :)

Mari Morgan's 7th Birthday party

Mari Morgan wanted to go skating this year for her party. But, first, we had cupcakes, chips, and Koolaid at home. As you may have seen in my last post, we went to Ann Olivia's cupcakes in town to get her cupcakes. They don't make just your normal cupcake. They are vey fancy with glitter--perfect I thought for a seven year old girl party. There were many to choose from, but we chose the chocolate chip cheesecake frosting on yellow cake. After I passed them out, all the girls were just sitting there. I told them to go ahead and eat, and MM finally blurted out, these cupcakes are awful. It was hilarious. Only 1 girl liked the cupcakes. So, we happened to have some chocolate frosting in the cabinet and re-iced them all with that. They were pleased.

Then, we all got into the car, and traveled to Skate Oddesy in Horn Lake for a little skating. The place was packed, but we lined all the girls up to get their skates. The worker told us that there were no more skates left in their sizes. They had to use some preschool plastic skates. Ha! The party definately had its problems, but I think everyone ended up having a good time! We came back to our house, opened presents, played a game, made jewelry and played outside. This will be a birthday party we won't forget! Oh, and her bff, Karis, spent the night.(cherry on top)

I can't believe it! My baby girl turned 7 today. I had planned a big day for her. We first met up with our good friends', the Lemonds, at the park. The kids rode their bikes and walked the fun trails. Amanda and I got to play a little "catch up", since we don't get together very much anymore. Then, we all loaded up and ate lunch at taco bell. Mari Morgan has been wanting to get her ears pierced for a while, but has always been too scared. She finally decided that she wanted to do it. Her best friend, Karis, has also been wanting to get her pierced, so we decided to let them do it together today. They were so scared, but it was all smiles when it was over. Later on, Brian, Nathan, Mari Morgan and I went to the local cupcake shop here in Hernando for her to pick out her cupcakes for the party tomorrow. I cooked Mari Morgan's favorite--Mac n cheese, chicken nuggets, and french fries for dinner. Last week, she came across my fine china stemware and said, "Mom, why don't we ever use these forks"? So, I surprised her last night by using my fine china to eat out of at supper. She was beaming. We then took baths and watched Chronicles of Narnia as a family. Great movie!

It was such a great day! I love you, Mari Morgan. I am blessed to be your mom! Happy Birthday! Looking forward to your friend birthday party tomorrow!

Its Moving Time!!

About three years ago God planted Riverbend church! Brian was called as their pastor, and it is an absolute joy! We have had some ups and downs, but for the most part, it has been smooth sailing. We are currently in Hernando, and have tripled in size since we have been in town. I am excited about that, but more importantly, I am excited about how the Lord has worked in people's lives. We have now outgrown our building and are getting ready to move into a larger facility. Over the past couple of months, Satan has been doing everything he can to stop this process!! But, Greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world. I have also caught myself humming and singing this song a lot lately:

Wow! This has been a wild two weeks. As most of you know, I am not able to drive, and this has been quite hard on the fam. Brian is very busy right now with new church building stuff. We have a new puppy that has totally rocked our world, and the list goes on and on. But, what I have to remember is how blessed we are... right? Here are a few events that have been "blog worthy" over the past few weeks! :)

Our students had a musical on Friday, and the teachers were told to dress like someone from the 50's, 60's, or 70's. I borrowed a poodle skirt from my neice. It was fun, and the students did an excellent job in the program, especially mine! :)

While visiting my parents last weekend, we went through my Grandma's house. She is now in the nursing home. I found this bread box in her kitchen. I have been wanting a bread box, so I got it and my mom helped paint it to use in my kitchen.

These shutters were in my bedroom growing up. My mom had taken them down, because they were tearing up. I got her to paint them red as well to put in this blank space for now!

Mari Morgan and Edie played dress up and had a great time playing. They miss seeing each other.

I had fun hanging out with Banks, who was feeling a little left out, since Nathan did not join us this trip.

Mari Morgan's stars in motion dance team performed at the River Kings game at half time. She was so excited, and did awesome. I tried downloading a video, but it would not work. I will keep trying. She was shaking it! :)

Mari Morgan has been wanting a puppy for a long time. Nathan got a lizard for good grades, so Mari Morgan wanted a puppy. We've been talking about an inside smaller dog for a while. So, we have been looking around, and have gone to Petco at the adoption days looking for just the right one. We heard of this one, and asked the owner to send us pictures. We really liked her, and traveled to Holly Springs last night to look at her. She is a cocker spaniel. Mari Morgan really liked her, and the puppy loved Nathan's soft fleece jacket. She kept going to Nathan at first, which made MM upset. After a while, she warmed up to MM too, and boy does she LOVE it. The owner gave her a bath, and we took her home. We were contemplating names on the way. Many were tossed around, like Cookie, Sadie, Oreo, Gretchen, Maya, ..... Nothing seemed to be right. Well, when we got her home, we realized she really liked snuggling up to soft things. Mari Morgan said softy, then said, Sophie. So, that would be her name. It is Perfect! We are losing some sleep, but having lots of fun with her.

My Little Selena

I bought some foam rollers a long time ago, wanting Mari Morgan to let me roll her hair one night. I have started wearing my hair curled some, and she always tells me she doesn't like it. She has always been plain jane when it comes to hair. I haven't pushed it, because I knew it was not her style. BUT, last night, she came in the bathroom and asked me if I could roll her hair in the morning. I told her I would and asked her if she would rather sleep in some foam rollers. I explained to her that my mom rolled mine in foam rollers every Saturday night so I would have pretty curls for Sunday morning. She agreed, and I was elated! I rolled it up as best I could, and she actually slept in them all night. When she woke up this morning she took them out on her own, and came down to show me. She said she liked them. I was so glad. Later today, we went to Target and there is a line of clothing that is called The Alex Russo collection, which is Selena Gomez's name on Wizards on Disney. There was a picture of her, and her hair looked very similiar to MM's. She was so excited. We bought a shirt, and she claims she will look just like Selena now. She has walked around all day saying, "I have curly hair". She asked me to roll her hair every other night, but I'm not so sure about that!

Nathan's first goal of the season

On Saturdays Nathan is playing basketball in the hernando city league. They have not one a game yet, but Nate was excited to get his first bucket today. I was so happy for him, as you will hear. Ha! Way to go, Nathan! He is #11 under the goal.

MM is finally Star Student!

Mari Morgan has been waiting all year for her turn as Star Student. This past week was her turn. We decorated her poster on Monday night. On Friday, JoJo(Brian's mom) came and read to the class. She also brought cupcakes and Airheads for the class(Mari Morgan's request). She was very excited. I am so glad that she is doing so well, and that she enjoys learning!

EEG- the first test!

Well, I survived staying up all night. I played on FB a lot, read Hebrews, watched t.v., and dozed a tad. This morning I was ok, but it hit me while I was lying down during the test. I ended up falling asleep for part of the test, which he said was what I needed to do anyway. I was glad to hear that! I slept from 2:00- 4:00 this afternoon, and am about to go to bed in a little bit. Next Thursday, I will have an MRI done, and my doctor will discuss both this test and my EEG results on that day. Praying I will get some answers and that treatment will be minimal. I have wonderful friends and family who have been praying for me. And of course, my mom, who never fails to come when I need her most. She stayed up with me some last night. Thanks, Mom. I love you! We just learned that we will not have school tomorrow, because of the snow. Just maybe God knew I needed another day of rest! :)

It is 12:05 on Thursday morning. The doctor asked me to stay up all night so that I can be sleep deprived for my EEG at 9:30. I came in from school already tired, but so far I have only dozed off for about 5 minutes. I have had a piece of cake, and 2 bowls of Trix cereal, hearing the clock ticking behind me. I pray that I can get some answers soon. If it is not seizures, which is what will show on an EEG, that answers may come after my MRI next week. My God is with me, and He never fails!

Newest Family Member and a Fancy Day

I told Nathan if he would make all A's on his report card, I would let him get anything he wanted as long as it was not out of our budget. The first semester he missed it by 1 point. I knew that he would ask for a lizard. He did, but he did not have all A's. Well, this semester played out a little differently. I knew by his grades he was going to be close. Not only did he have all A's, but most were very high A's. Of course, he asked for a lizard and I couldn't break my promise. Nathan has always LOVED lizards. The only reason he enjoys going to Florida to the beach is because it is covered with lizards, and he can catch them like you would not believe. He is so proud of this one, because we have never had one quite this big. His name is Spike, and it was the one

he fell in love with at Petco. I don't understand it, but Spike sure makes him smile!

Mari Morgan had Fancy Nancy Day at her school. We have just recently taken all of her dress-up clothes to Goodwill because she never played with them. We had to really search for something for her to wear. We had so much fun finding fancy jewelry, clothes, and scarves. I think she turned out pretty cute.
